Glacier Travel and Crevasse Rescue
Climbing big, beautiful glaciated peaks is the dream of many climbers. Unfortunately, we don’t have those in Texas! Join us on this course to learn the technical skills necessary to safely travel on glaciated terrain, perform crevasse rescue, and travel in a rope team!
In this course, you will learn:
basic glaciology and route selection
knots and hitches necessary for glacier travel
organizing a rope team and traveling on a rope
crevasse rescue and hauling systems
ascending a rope
rappelling into a crevasse
long term care for a crevasse rescue patient
