Originally from Texas, Ethan began his outdoor adventures at a very young age camping and hiking with his parents and sister. He began backpacking when he got a bit older through the Boy Scouts, where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Ironically, he never rock climbed with the scouts because he wasn’t too sure about the process! He started rock climbing in 2018 after reading a book called "No Shortcuts to the Top" and figuring that if he wanted to become a mountaineer, he should probably learn to rock climb first.

Ethan started his guiding career with the Outdoor Adventure Department at Oklahoma State University where he led groups of students on rock climbing trips to Arkansas, a backpacking trip to the Grand Canyon, and a variety of other clinics and courses. 2019 saw Ethan move to Washington State for an internship where he was able to gain experience climbing glaciated peaks as well as alpine rock and multi-pitch climbing. After getting married, Ethan, his wife Emma, and their husky dog Tommy, moved to Portland, ME, which opened up a new world of accessible hiking, rock climbing, ice climbing, and mountaineering. While living in Maine, Ethan served as a climbing instructor with Northeast Mountaineering in New Hampshire.

After 2.5 years in the Northeast, Ethan and Emma decided that it was time to move back home to Texas and settle down. Texas is where Ethan learned to love the outdoors and is excited to share that with others through LSM. He has a passion for climbing and helping others learn and achieve their goals through seeking qualified instruction. He has plans to advance his training through the American Mountain Guide Association and is an advocate for others to do the same.

When Ethan is not guiding, he works at Texas Wesleyan University as the Assistant Director of Orientation and Ram Camp. If he isn’t climbing, you can find Ethan fly fishing, trail running, practicing guitar, or trying to learn Spanish!
